Hi, I've been wanting to take Pure Biology and Pure Chemistry for my O Levels, the former which my school doesn't have, and the latter which my school required a certain score in Mathematics to attain, which I didn't. So since it's not possible to be both a private and school candidate in the same year, I think I should do the exams as a school with my current subjects next year (I'm Sec 3 now) and do Pure Biology and Pure Chemistry on the subsequent year as a private candidate. Is this possible?
Yes. www.seab.gov.sg
So what about admission to a Polytechnic where they require a certain score to enter? Do I have to
1.go to them personally/write a letter
2.sort of "combine" the results
or will I not be able to enter a Poly if I do this?

It depends on what course you want to attend and which polytechnic. Since polytechnic are "independent" and follow basic MOE guidelines, it will be difficult to assess what criteria is necessary for you to be admitted.
Usually reference material such as this year's admission is a good reference. They will indicate the required minimum aggregate and subjects for entry.
Alternatively, you may go to the relevant polytechnic's admission department for more details.
Alright. Thanks!
