@likeyou
Hi,
It would be best for you to check with your child's teacher.
MSG: Mean Subject Grade. I believe the grade for each subject is assigned, based on the 'O' level grade format of A1, A2, B3, B4, C5, C6, D7, E8, and F9.
L1B4: Score of English and Best 4 Subjects (I think).
Expected L1B4: Based on the PSLE aggregate (I guess), the student is being seen by the school to be competent of achieving a certain score.
If Actual L1B4 < Expected L1B4, the student is doing better than expected. It is, therefore, a good sign.
It would be good to check with the teacher where your child stands, as compared with the rest of the Sec 1 cohort.
Thanks.
Cheers,
Wen Shih

Wah MSG is mean subject grade.
emb3 stands for English, Maths and Best 3.
Because your kid is in Secondary 1, there are usually more subjects for greater exposure...
L1B4 scale is only applicable for students taking GCE, I don't know why they wanted to emphasize this at Sec 1.....
Hi Moderators and Mill,
Thanks for your information.
I will asked the form teacher.
How come nowadays so complicated?
My time, pass means pass, fail means fail. Eg) English F9, Math B3, Chinese A1 (straight forward).
Come to uni is mean, median and p-value.
The last is usually calculated by students themselves.
If Actual L1B4 < Expected L1B4, the student is doing better than expected. It is, therefore, a good sign
+++++++++++
I will tell my kid about this.
My kid from N(A) and badly wanted to go to Express.
My kid told me Eng must be band 1 + 2 sujects (band 1) in order to go express.
If your kid has the interest, then he's likely to have the will.
Which is good.
Now what he needs would be your support.
Thanks SBS.
I can only give my kid a moral and mental support unlike my other kid in primary school, I pressure them to study. Now in secondary school, can act as a mentor and a listener. I do hope he can maintain and go higher bit by bit.
Usually the school will take English, Maths and Sciences while considering a student to change track from NA to Express. I hope your son will do well in the EOY!

Out of curiosity, why is he wanting to go to express so much?
now got "thru train" prog so tt the kid no need to take N levels at sec 4
take Os directly at the end of sec 5
