Hello
I understand there are a lot of JC POLY threads out there.
But my question is slightly different.
My son asked me where should he go after O level this year. Well ... he asked me some questions I couldn't answer
He wants to work as .... imformation security person (as he told me) .... something of that sort .... computer stuff I guess?
NYP has a course called information security (we went online to search for the info)
He want a master degree in that field. He result is current not bad. After deducting CCA points he would have ... 10 or 11 net. If he works harder these few months I think he might get lower points.
If he chooses POLY, will he have a chance to go to UNI ? It doesn't have to be a local UNI ... oversea ones will be fine too. Do they regonise our SG POLY cert ?
I was thinking ... May be he can go to POLY ,then go to oversea UNI for bachelor, then come back to SG UNI for master degree. Is that possible ?
The main concern is ... Do oversea UNI regonise SG POLY (let's say NYP) cert?
And. I'm new here. Sorry if I posted this at the wrong place. Please help me delete this if necessary.
Poly is more practical course, more hands on
When u graduate frm poly , you'll recieve diploma, and it's recognise for local or overseas uni.
yes it is possible provided you have lots of $$$
Dear CZhello,
Usually polytechnics have MOUs with several universities abroad where their graduates can further their studies. My suggestion is to check with NYP if they have such an arrangement in place for their information security programme. If so, your son will probably be granted exemption from having to sit for the first year subjects (or maybe a little more, depending on the polytechnic results).
Sincerely,
CKLee

I would go for JC route....if Univ is your ultimate aim, no point spending an extra year with POLY...whatever you do, avoid low end Aussie Univ....some companies dun recognized low end Aussie Degrees....especially those "Top Up" after POLY types....dun waste $...go for Full-time degrees on campus study....also Full-time Master Degree....I assure you, you will not regret it !
Of course if by preference, you may also choose the POLY route....I think a student will learn more practical things if goes POLY....anyway its up to you....your choice...
