Hi, I would like to enrol my son to Uni of New Castle which is tied with PSB for Electrical engineering...Can anybody give me some advice? Is PSB good ? I know Uni of New Castle is recognised...for its engineering degree...but how is PSB?
Pls advice.
PSB is one of the biggest education providers here but their qualifications are not recognised by the civil service. Therefore, the options for your son are only limited to the private sector.

U mean the one near st. james' park? That one civil service recognise. Otherwise if it's long distance degrees, yes you can get into a govt job but they only recognise your dip or 'a' levels.
Engineering courses by uni of newcastle are recognised by PSB, but not PEB. So if your son decides to pursue a public sector job, good luck to him, if he wants to obtain PE, good luck to him also.
to be a PE, your son would need to take up 4 straight years with Hons degree full time "ON CAMPUS"...and not part time...u need to check if the course is a distance learning course...if it is...then it may not be recognized...there are many other criteria as well...
i would suggest that you call on the PE Board to enquire about the school u intended to enrol your son...in most cases, they would just refer you to the Act governing PE Qualifications as recognized in Singapore...
aside, besides obtaining the required academic qualifications, there is still an intense log book period in which your son would need to complete usually 12 or 24 months and satisfying the PE exam before he could be awarded the PE designation....
Last I checked, Uni of newcastle engineering courses are not on Singapore's PE board, regardless part time or not, so good luck.
Hi, went to PSB, was told it is a full time 4 years course,,,can be done in s'pore campus or Australia and it is recognise by S'pore and Australia...pls comment and thank you for feedback..
Yeah, no doubt, recognised by Singapore PSB, and Australia PEB. If you really want to be sure, check out the list of courses and unis recognised by singapore's PEB, at the singapore PEB website.
