Hi i am a sec 4 student doing my last year in a neighborhood school. as i thought it was time to plan for my future, i just have difficulty deciding in between the 2 possible routes ii will take.
I am interested in going university, (preferably local) though i have not decided on which degree. i have seen how stressed out my friends were when they went to jc. things like PW project work especially had close deadlines, and they still have to manage other subjects, cca etc. but does going jc really have a much higher chance to go university than poly students?
going to poly may be less stressed, but however i am worried about the future prospects of going to poly. wat can i do with a diploma in terms of further studies and careers?
and also can anyone tell mi wat gpa is? x.x and also is banking and financial services or business studies (both by NP) a better course to take? i really need some advice to decide! thanks!=)
It's a fallacy that going to poly is less tough.
Gpa is grade point average.
4/4 is the perfect score.
For a poly student to go to uni, an cumilative of 3.5 or up is the magic number ;) - not that hard to get.
kenn3th so its not so hard to go into a uni from a poly course?

Some of my frenz 2.5 GPA only. Not alot get 3 or above.
Fuck.
Its debated in the other thread.
If you want to go university, GO JC.
Only 5% of the poly students made it to university.
5% means out of the xx,000, only maybe less than 100 made it there.
TRUE STORY.

Yah. More ppl from JC go university.
Dear Miss Meow,
You should focus on your exam and study now.
After getting good grades, then u can worry about where to go.
Without good grades, you can go nowhere.
Good Luck and Hang Tough !
dun scold meow meow la...
It's better that you work hard now, and have more options later.
JC la
wan go uni then go JC.
don waste time on poly.

5% out of 10000 students is 500.
500 is not <100
put it simply....when u choose poly and graduated...and your good fren graduated later from NUS/ NTU...then both just happen to work in the same company...
he becomes your manager....and u r perhaps the asst mgr or supervisor below the asst mgr under your good fren....see how far that is?

If you cannot take the stress, I suggest you go to poly. Because, if you are not a nerd or study freak, you would not have survive in Uni.
In Uni, people take 10 or more subjects and they will have exam in 13 weeks time. The content load in Uni is a lot. And there are no tuition.
I have seen people dropping out from Uni, some go crazy, some trying to commit suicide. So if stress is the main concern then you are out of the game.
Go poly better, because if you go poly, at least you have learn a skill. so many pple frm jc go poly, becos they had no choice, a A lvl cert doesnt get them anyting. plus a cert is only a starting impression pple see abt you, experience also takes a big part of it.
Um... actually for me i would go to poly then if my GPA isnt good enough, then i would go for a private uni. there u can focus on something that u enjoy. like my brother, he studied in a private poly/uni after O levels. he studied night class for about 8 years cos he wasnt so rich. but after that he could become an IT manager with quite a well paying job. and honestly hes quite dumb when he was in sec school. he like pass 3 subjects onli O.o
Honestly, if your parents are expecting you to get a degree, go the JC way.
A degree is a must these days. So what if poly is a bit more "relax"? Its not as if it is not stress-free like JC. It is also equally stressed when you have multiple projects (4-5) at the same deadline.
If I can retake my choice, I would had taken the jc path and suffer for 2 years.
