a) Find the number of green paper clips in a box.
b) The total number of some boxes of green and orange paper clips is 231. If there are 3 boxes of green paper clips, how many orange paper clips are there?
Darren has 5/6 times as many green paper clips as orange paper clips in each respective box
so,
1box- 5units of green
1box-6units of orange
2 boxes of green paper clips and 5 boxes of orange paper clips adds up to 280 paper clips.
2boxes green: 2x5=10units
5boxes orange: 6x5=30 units
2boxesgreen+5boxesorange= 280paperclips (30+10units)
so 40units---> 280 paperclips
1units--> 280/40=7paperclips
(a) 1 box green=5units, 5x7=35 (answer)
(b) 3boxes of green: 3x5=15units
1unit=7paperclips
15units= 7x15=105greenpaperclips
(total number-greenpaperclips)231-105= 126orange paperclips(answer)
