Hi, i read up on seperation techniques n i was wondering about the differences between the 2 types of distillation.
1st difference: Fractional distillation has a fractionating column above the round-bottomed flask containing the two misible liquid mixture whilst the simple distillation does not have one.
2nd difference: Simple distillation is mainly used to seperate a pure solvent from a solution (the solute would be a solid which is dissolved in this case) while fractional distillation is used to separate a mixture of 2 misible liquids. Simple distillation can also be used to seperate two misible liquids however, if the temperature difference is too little, you would have to use a fractional distillation
is this correct? pls correct me if im wrong thanks ( i have quite a lot of problem with the 2 distillations)
