what to do if i fail eng in N level?

if my other subject is less than 12 point but i fail in eng , can i still go to sec5? pls help , Tks

Dear nann,
You will need to pass your English before you can be promoted to sec 5. However, the school principal may promote you base on other factors like CCA, leadership,staff recommendations etc. Generally if a student fails English, the school would encourage the student for ITE NITEC courses. If the school is compassionate enough, the principal will allow you to retain 1 year for sec 4Na.

How many points are needed to get into sec 5?

Promoting criteria 4N(A) to sec 5 is
EL, Math, and Best 3 = equal/less than 19
EL must be equal/less than C5

English and E Maths are pretty important because it will be counted in your score above.
If you fail your English language, you should consider either retaking N Level again or proceed to ITE.
You would have probably noticed that O Level English is way more difficult as compared to N Level English. Failing English O Level makes it difficult to get into JC/Poly.
