what preparations do i need?
I hope to get pgde(JC), CS1 math and cs2 math...possible? :D
moi major ish applied math/stats
PGDE
CS1: JC Maths
CS2: Sec Maths
The above is possible, you will have to take 2CSes (same subject at different level for JC)
However, MOE prefer Maths/Applied Maths/Stats graduate, as nowadays in JC, a maths teacher has to do many extra duties (it is not optional) such as assist students in research/project/competition. Many of these activities require Mathsmatical knowledge at U2 or U3 level. If you do not have a strong mathematical background in U, MOE may not find you suitable in teaching JC.

Just be prepared for the interview.
That is the toughest thing when you want to enter NIE.
I will even rank it above your academic and other qualifications.
why do u say that? how tough was it?

Well, for the Bsc/BA batches, there are people with straight As for A-lvl and did not get in. There are people with straight Ds who get in, on the otherhand. The interview was the one which makes the difference.
You must be prepared to answer some basic questions such as why did you join teaching, why did you choose the JC track...etc., and also some out of the box question such as what do you think you will be able to contribute as a teacher to the teaching community (though if you are lucky, they may not ask things like this.)
If i won math olympiad gold (smo) 2nd individual prize, would it enhance my chance to get into pgde(jc)?

I see no reason why not.
But then again, I am not the interviewer or admins who are checking through your record, so I can't say for sure.
However, you can bring it up if necessary during your interview (especially if you are trying to back claims such as a passion for Maths and the effort you are willing to put into it).
ahh thanks!
I received an email from moe tt i'm considered for pgde()...
pgde()??? LOL that's weird, didn't state pri/sec/jc...
2nd in SMO(open) will help for sure, but not SMO (Senior) or (Junior). If you can show yourself to be a value-add to the existing JC teaching staff(which means you can do things that others can't), and demonstrate a strong interest in teaching at JC level during the interview, I guess they will surely consider your request.
But be prepared, teaching H1/2 Maths is only 20-30% of your entire workload in a JC.

You can try calling up the office and ask.
It could either be a typo, or it could mean they are considering you for all three of them.
