I'm currently a Sec3 student and I'm really interested in law in uni so I was wondering if it would be better just go to JC or take the law and management course in Temasek Poly. :/ A little help here please!
jc!
This is obvious.
jc
Junior College, for sure.
lol if u want to go to law or med school just go to a jc, no question about it.
Okayyy, thanks! :D
I'm facing the same problem! I really want to major in law, but I know I can't handle the stress if I go to JC, so should I just go poly? But why is it better to go to JC if you want to major in law in uni? o.o
Cannot handle stress in JC? You must have misunderstood something.
If you are aiming for a local U (NUS/NTU/SMU), stress in JC is definite lesser. In the end, 80% of the JC graduates qualify for some courses in a local U but only the top 5% of the poly graduates qualify. An overall GPA of 3.7 and above is much more harder to attain than a BBCC in A Level.
As for Law, AAA/B is the usual cut-off, though very hard to get, the chance is still better than to get a GPA of 3.9+ out of 4 from a poly, as a GPA of 3.9+ may not guarantee a place.

U go poly u need to be top few percent to enter local uni.
U can be the top few percent?
No.
So go via JC route.
Anyway priority is always given to JC student.
Please enter JC.
You have to be able to handle stress, and i believe in JCs, your friends will be those who will jio you to study after school.
Im from poly and most of the time i skip lectures and tutorial classes
Also, most courses in poly don't really suit for Law and Medicine, and even if you graduate with a Diploma in those, it is hard to get a place in university.
Unless you are a genius or are really hardworking, it is quite hard to get 3.9GPA.
The only way to get that 3.9 GPA is to get A for all your test, and only 1 or 2 Bs.
In poly, getting B+ will give you 3.5 GPA, So if you study 5 subjects, 4 get A, 1 get B, your GPA will drop to 3.8-3.9 If you suay kena lousy lecturer, Get one C, GPA will drop to 3.5. From 3.5, if you score all As again, it will go up by a little bit.
If you want Uni, study hard and go JC. Diploma will work well if you study really well. Else it's jsut a diploma.
SUTD is setup for diploma gaduates isnt it.
even if you dun qualify for local uni, so many private education for you to choose from. do a distance learning education as a last resort.
Understood, thx. (:
