That one was the basic concept of Economics....not something at A levels.
But the overview does not encapsulate all of it. The study of Economics is very broad and utility maximising and policy decisions is just one part of it. Albeit one that is constantly attacked by detractors who then paints the rest of the discipline as such.
Economics is a topic that requires practice and understanding. Sheer memorising of textbook/lecture notes based points is not going to help you pass your exam. Probably help you gain insight into Econs if you are considering taking it.
Thing about economics is application. No application no talk. They give you a context, you apply. That's Cambridge's favourite tactic across almost all subjects these years.
As for prep for JC, I think you can start by revisiting some of your secondary school math physics and chem fundamentals. Math is probably trigo, chem is probably stoichiometry and chemical bonding (usu. the first/second topics), physics will be kinematics dynamics (Newtonian physics)
Having just graduated, all I can say is if you want to survive JC, you have to be consistent. No last minute studying, because that will gurantee you straight Us (espcially in the top junior colleges). Finishing all your tutorials will help you remember concepts. Don't expect to sleep like pig during JC. I survived on about 5 hours of sleep everyday, juggling leadership commitments, and academics, and ended up with an A for chemistry, and straight Bs for my other subjects in prelims, which is like, *not boasting*, quite good in a top JC. And that's after slogging my ass off. And having friends call me mugger. Which I'm not if you examine my post A lifestyle.
Jiayou if you're really looking into JC. (:
brush up on General Paper....
it is still the most important subject
Hi,
Sorry for suddenly barging in,but I have a question to ask..
I just finish O levels this year,I would want to go into JC next year..
I have already made up my mind to go into the Science stream but am very confused about what to take for Humans..
I took E.Geog in Secondary school so I dunno if I should take geog in JC and about economics I am not sure if its good to score...
So can anyone advise me on what Humans to take?like the easiest to score or less difficult to learn?
Escuse me if I put this into the wrong forum.
So pls advise me,thank you thank you and Merry Christmas!
Thanks for sharing so many great links!
Hi Jen,
I will say be it geography or economics at A levels, both are equally hard to score.
However, I do think economics is a more useful subject after your A levels.
It certainly helps a lot in the critical thinking part...
