I would like to choose courses related to ethical hacking so as to become a Computer Forensics Investigator in the future. So far I've found a few courses from all the polytechnics.
NYP : Diploma in Information Security
NP : Diploma in Network Systems & Security
SP : Diploma in Infocomm Security Management
TP : Diploma in Cyber & Digital Security
TP : Diploma in Digital Forensics
NP's course and TP's Digital Forensics course are quite new if I'm not wrong.
Can someone tell me which course is the most suitable one for me? It would be good if it is recognised world wide and able to enter local universities.
It would be good if someone from those courses mentioned above can give some extra information about it.
Thanks.
All the courses that you have mentioned above are really good course All the diploma stated above are recognized by employers in Singapore. The prospect of going university depends on many factors like GPA and CCA records.

If you were to recommend one of the courses stated above, which will you recommend? And if possible, state the reason.
digital forensics
sounds more pro
Doesn't matter which course you take.
School doesn't teach you everything.
You have to do your own research, reading, googling over the internet and learning from a mentor.

I would choose TP's Diploma in Digital Forensics because the course is more relevent to what you're looking at. Even though it's a new course, I believe they have structure the modules well. I went to TP's website to look for modules for this course, and I notice the modules taught in this courses are very much related to university course at lower level and well match the industry's need.
TP's Cyber & Digital Security and TP's Digital Forensics course are very similar in many modules. It's the 5 or 6 modules in the package that makes the diploma different and unique. If you sole goal is forensics, then go for the new TP course. If you do not mind being in the IT security field, you can try CDS but it won't make you a IT forensics guy.
For SP's Diploma in Infocomm Security Management, pretty much half of the modules are programming related which may not be what you're looking for. One thing I like about SP is that more capable students will be offered to take on addition certification courses before graduating.
For NYP's Diploma in Information Security, as the course titled says it's Information Securtiy. It's about security information. I look through the module and it is a well designed course for DIS. In fact, it's one of the best Information Security course in Singapore. I notice that this course also contain cross discipline modules like digital forensics for greater exposure to students.
For NP's Network Systems & Security, it's for network security. Although it has a module on digital forensic, it does not train you to be a specialist in digital forensics. Like NYP, it's only an exposure for students.
Best regards,
Chin Seng

To be honest, I'm actually fine with any kind of IT security field. In fact, I'm kind of interested in joining the SPF Technology Crime Division.
I went to look through the course structures of both NYP's and TP's Digital Forensics but I can't find the ethical hacking module. I'm not sure if I really need it but I'm interested in it.
Thanks for your recommendation. :)

I do have to agree with you regarding doing "your own research, reading, googling over the internet and learning from a mentor".
However, I'm sure that there'll be a course that will standout in the field of IT security.

Certified Ethical hacking courses are available in Singapore. SP will send/encourage/recommend/sponsor their IT students for this certification course. Not too sure about NYP,TP,NP...

Won't it be better if it is included in the course? Or does it not matter at all? :O

Hacking is a specialize set of skills and knowledge all together. But if you want to hack, you will need to have the fundamental basics first. A diploma course serves as a the fundamental basic skills you need prior for the hacking course.

I'm actually considering Forensic Examiner / Specialist for a job.
Any idea what is it like? Salary wise and all.
My rough guess would be $1700 for an entry level position, with full package. Because the job is from a government agency, you will be given a full package like medical benefits, holidays and etc.

Is that a decent amount?
I wouldn't say decent. But it's a reasonable compensated amount.

Any idea how is the competition in this field/course like? Intense or?

Very strong competition from foreigners.

Oh that's bad. If I do not make it into a local university, what private/overseas university can I go to that is specialised in this field?
