Hi, I have a few questions regarding me taking a degree in maritime engineering.
1) I have a diploma in inforcommunications technology(Republic Poly) am I eligible to take a maritime engineering degree?
2) If did get a seat in a uni for maritime engineering, will it be tough for me as I have no prior knowledge to maritime.

I suggest you seek out the schools that offer this degree first.
1.Talk to enrollment/admission department, they will be the right one to advise you on your eligibility and if you qualify for any advance credits or subject waiver.
2. Look at the course work required to complete this degree. Then head to the library and read up on some of the subjects you need to take in order to graduate with this degree.
If the topics interests you, you will be more committed to accomplish this degree.
Perhaps you can talk to career counselors on what kind of jobs you likely will land yourself in this area of training.
Consider all your potential options, the last thing you want to do is change your mind half way through.
Marine enginneering is a wide scope of study, from marine architecture, navigation to shipping lines to engines, most of the marine people are from poly, they need to go sailing as 3rd officer or engineer, then from there, slowly upgrade thru courses to become captain, or chief engineer. U degree is only a start, you still need to go thru MOT certification and many other requirement, in marine engineering, you do not need good result to enter, that is why you get tom, dick, ah seng, ahmad ad ah kow in there, the best course today is Mass communication, Pharmacetical and bio tech
