I am from the arts stream and I require a little bit of advice for my subject combi
I have decided that I wanted H2 econs, H2 Geo but I am struggling to decide if I should take H2 maths or H2 Lit. If I take H2 maths, I will end up with H1 Lit and vice versa. I have never studied Lit in secondary school before and I ended up with a A2 for a-maths and e-maths in O levels, so I am unsure of what should I go with. Another worry for me is that I may want to end up in a business course, I understand that the requirement is a simple pass in H1 mathematics but will it give me a advantage if I go with the H2 maths route? Also will H2 maths be harder than H2 Lit?
All help and advice is appreciated!!!!! :)
Hi,
It may be useful for you to work backwards:
choice of career -> choice of university course -> choice of subjects in JC.
Hard to compare H2 Maths with H2 Lit since they belong to different disciplines.
Thanks.
Cheers,
Wen Shih
These are the JC subjects required for the various NUS courses.

Hi,
(I am new and just wanna help XD)
It all depends on which is your flair. Is it English, and the capability to think critically, or solving equations that looks like they don't make sense?
You don't need a background to do H2 Lit, you just need to have a good command of English. Having taken H2 Lit myself and experienced the demands of it, I must say it is not an easy subject. Lets face it, ALL the 'A' Level subjects demand alot of rigour from you. If lets say, you are taking H2 Lit, are you able to think further than what the average students across all the JCs think? (and you have to remember, you're doing 5 books in total, if you're taking H2 Lit. Will you be able to remember all the contents, the analysis, the quotes?)
On the other hand, I really think H2 Math is quite useful. It gives you a broad range of courses that accepts H2 Math as one of the prerequisites. Don't get me wrong, I am not advising you to take H2 Math in place of H2 Lit...
Follow your heart. See which one you lean to most. Point out which one is your weaknesses. Because in order to really succeed for 'A' Levels, you need to have the passion for that particular subject. With this passion, it drives a hunger to know more. :)
