Hey guys i have a couple of qns for you. First of all which course would you pick..Higher nitec in Accountancy or Higher Nitec in paramedic and emergency and Nursing ( dual cert , 3years) ?
Second how do you get to poly from Higher Nitec? I heard you need a GPA of 3.5 or something like that. Any can i choose any course i want from poly? Or.. i can only stick with the similar courses that i took in Higher Nitec?
And lastly..i heard that if you do really well in Hnitec you can skip the first year of poly ( jump straight to year two ) is this true? If so, does it apply to all courses? How do i check all this? I tried finding more info but failed. I even asked some of my ITE friends..some said you can and some said you cant. A bit lost here guys...can you help me out?
Hi dear,
You can pick any course you want and not just paramedics. (Of course, taking the same type of course sure benefits you!) If you want to get to poly from Higher nitec, score a GPA of more than 3.5 to be safe. Although the poly website state GPA 2.0 would be able to enter, but there are people who is unable to enter. I would pick accountancy as there will be a wider variety of course for me to choose in poly. Hope it helps you a little (:
I will pick Higher Nitec in paramedic and emergency and Nursing. The things you will learn in this course are useful and practical. The job prospect is good and there sure will be jobs available for students in this course.
Depend on the course requirement. Do your very best and get 3.5 GPA. Usually to progress into poly, you will need a certificate for a similar course that you wish to apply. You will need to seek more information from the respective institution directly as the academic advisor can provide you with more information.
The skipping of first year part, it's true. Students who did exceptionally well academically may skip first year in their poly. This is on a case-by-case basis, and is very rare. Many schools do not like the idea of letting student skip first year.
