Hi, i am currently a science student in a junior college taking 4h2 content base subject but am considering dropping one H2 to H1. I have heard that the 90th percentile of NUS law is AAA/A. Would like to ask if i am considering studying law in one of the local uni will taking 4H2 put me at a greater advantage compared to a someone taking 3H2 + 1H1 with the same grades as mine?
If i am keeping my choices open to study law in Uk or Australia in the future will having 4H2 be a prerequisite? Uk universities like UCl and LSE require at least 3As so i am guessing these 3As should come from H2 content base subject. correct me if i am wrong.
thanks!
doesnt matter. all you need is to get your AAA/A, be it 4 h2 or 3 h2+1 h1
if you think you cant cope with 4 H2, my advice would be that you drop your H2 to H1
i highly doubt there is any advantage compared to another candidate with 3 H2+1 H1
there is no such 4H2 prerequisite for UK, though i must warn you that universities such as UCL and LSE only accept students from the top JCs in singapore e.g raffles, hwa chong, vj, nj, acsi. even though you might meet or even exceed their academic requirements, you might be rejected because of the college that you graduate from (im a victim of this bullshit)
yes the 3As are your H2 subjects
thanks for the response. really appreciate it alot :)
i am considering dropping one of my h2 as i feel that it's easier to secure 4As compared to taking 4H2 subject (partly also because i hate physics :/) . I am from vjc but personally i don't think it's right for them to allocate places base on the college you are from, it's just not that fair in my opinion. so sorry to hear about your plight.
If you don't mind me asking, may i know which Uk uni you applied to and what were your grades then? does having good cca recourds play a part?
thanks!
i applied to LSE, UCL, KCL, Queen Mary and Bristol.
got rejected by the first 3.
my grades are AAA/A GP B PW A, represented my school in rugby
i think a good cca record will come in handy when you write your personal statement
lots of vj students get accepted by lse so if your grades make the cut, you shouldnt have a problem
however i do not know if they will take your h1 grade into account when comparing between two candidates e.g one with AAA/A and another with AAA/B
thanks for the reply :)
did you apply through predicted grades or only after you got your A level results?
It seems like an impressive personal statement is a must have. Just curious, is any interview being conducted for your case?
thanks! :)
i applied with my A level results
i dont think sg students are allowed to apply with predicted grades
im not too sure about the personal statement though
no interviews were conducted though on their websites they did mention that they might conduct it for borderline cases
guess i will have to do more research before applying to UK uni. thanks for all the information you have provided me with :) all the best! :)
