How to use calculator to solve quadratic equations?

  Hi all, tomorrow is my damned  quadratic equation quiz for maths and many of my friends have casio calculators and all of them know how to use their calculators to solve quadratic equations. I have a Sharp EL - 509WS calculator (black one) and i have no idea how to solve a quadratic equation with it. googling did not help  and now im stuck. If i dont know how to use it to solve quadratic equation, i would be at an unfair disadvantage. Any help would be greatly appreciated

  aww man i tried the steps in the video and my calculator when i press mode and get the same thing and then i press down and nothing happens. THIS IS BAD. :/ Teacher just tell my class today!!!

  Are you using the same model? I know there are some difference between the model number, but i think it makes not difference

  I use to use this calculator but someone stole it

  Are you in secondary school? If not i will recommend the casio fx911es, can solve matrixes, polar divide rectangular etc.

   best if u can get those JC people use one, like very powerful can program

  unfair sia my friends get to use calculator. imagine your taking o levels and then you cannot use calculator while others can

  during O levels, u have to show working how to get to the ans. 

  not just press calc to get final ans 

   no working marks

  Yeap,  your calculator does not have the Solving equation function.
  To make it worst, i think your model does not come with the function to find determinant of matrices, while your friend's EL-509WS does.

  I don't know if it is a good or bad news.
  Don't rely too much on your calculator, next time you will not know the manual way of finding 'x'. This applies not just for quadratic equations, as well as other maths chapters, like complex numbers, etc.

  Learn the manual way, you will thank yourself for knowing how to do the manual way of calculating next time

  As for your test tmr, can just make use of the general equation for solving for 'x'. Be very careful of the minus signs and brackets, dun rush do one step at a time.

  EL 509 WS have the function, EL 509 W do not have it.
