GCE 'O' Level Chinese Paper

Hi all sgForumers,
Firstly, I would like to say that I am new to sgForums (This is my first post). I wanted to ask several questions about the GCE 'O' Level Chinese Paper that is taken in Oct/Nov. Well, you see, I am Secondary 3 this year and I am offering Higher Chinese, so I would have to take the Chinese paper this year. I understand that you have to obtain either an "A1" or "A2" to continue offering Higher Chinese.
So, here are my questions:
- Which of the 4 papers can one score easily? (Essay Writing, Structured Questions, Oral, Listening Comprehension)
- Is it true that the standard of the Oct/Nov paper be raised a lot higher (bell curve) than the Mid-Year Examination Paper?
- Is it possible to get full marks for Listening Comprehension?

Well having taken the paper when i was in sec 3͵ i would say that most ppl find it easiest to get full marks for LC. But everyone is different and for me͵ i did pretty bad for LC lol got 3 wrong cos i just suck at hearing. I guess what pulled me up was the oral and paper 1. About the bell curve thingy im not sure actually but in my sch more ppl got dist for the nov paper compared to the mid year paper. And ofc its possible to get full marks for lc. My advice is to get full marks for lc and dist for ur oral cos you cant retake them shud you decide to drop hcl and retake chinese. Its unlike p1 and p2 where you can retake and maybe score better.

many schs will let their students take during may/jun
those who cannot make it (like less than B3) will take again in oct/nov
which means those who retake can have higher chances of a better grade since those got A1 and A2 not fighting with them anymore

hi, first time here on sgforums as well, i really dunno how to prepare myself for the may/june o level chinese paper 2012, i may not be in hcl but i definitely fear for my chinese results is there like any methods to score for chinese?safest category of email writing and compo?anything to take note for paper 2?

language is not a do TYS 7 times in 1 mth can make it one

nvr said I was doing 10 year series... it's pretty much useless at this point.. er nvm is there any easier way to find answer to close passage? I get nvr get like more than 4 correct answers in all my papers.. o.O

第一部分：实用文
I have read the 1162 information and realised that for 应用文, students have to write an email. I thought last time is letter?
Did your school teach the format/layout(date, topic, address etc?) you should use for email writing? Is it still 公函and�函？公函 and �函 is under 应用文- You should have seen this book, if not, borrow from friends and memorise the layouts for different type of writings, I remember during my exams i have drew the layouts in my dictionary, and refer to them during the exam!
第二部分：作文
Like wad fireice said, æŠ¥ç« æŠ¥é�“ is the easiest things to write, read some model essays on æŠ¥ç« æŠ¥é�“, see what nice phrases they used.

Close passage is the worst thing that i have done.
To me, it's like a vocabulary test in english, it's either i know the meaning, or i don't know. Even if i know the meaning, there will be some words which have almost the same meaning, and then i do not know which ones to use.
Furthermore, i have problems reading all the words in the passage, meaning i don't know what the passage is actually about.
When i did my o levels i was also finding out if there are easy ways to know what the words mean, but unfortunately, the only way is to expose yourself through more chinese vocabs.
So i think it's hard to find an easy way.

yea they changed the format like two years ago from letter to e mail... really? that's the only way to do close passage :\ hehe i'm doomed...

read the 逗� for bite-size social affairs contents so u can use them for oral and compo
every evening, watch chinese news (now with subs!) so tt u can learn new vocab and proper pronunciation

LC and oral you should score a distinction to make sure you get a higher marks!
For oral make sure you talk about everything and anything you see as for the reading , read with confidence... for words that you don't know try making it up or if worst comes to worst skip it ^^
