Ive just finished my first year and i got a low GPA of 2.88. Ive been thinking for a long time to retake my first year. Should i do that? People around me said that its too late and my second year and third year wont bring it up at all... I admit. I became lazy and slacked in the first semester of year 1 and got 2.85. Thats why my overall score got pulled down. But i woke up and tried harder for my second semester but the improvement was only 0.03 :( . So my question is, with the GPA points of 2.88, should i retake my first year or is it possible to still aim for a high GPA of (i hope) 3.5 and up? I study in nanyang poly diploma in business management.
u will need the next 2 yrs to be all As to pull up the avg to ur expectations
if u think u can and willing to study 4 times harder, then yes, retake would be good
I didn't even know that you can retake first year modules once you cleared them. But you should calculate your remaining module credits to see what you need to achieve on average to get your desired GPA.
hi im from nyp and im worse then u.....

Hello there
In my opinion, if you are really serious about getting a real high GPA, i will recommend repeating the first year. However you have to take into account the possibility of the school allowing you to repeat year 1, the time lost, financial issues, etc.
Like what fireice said, pulling up from a 2.88 is really really hard.
Scoring all As for the next 4 semesters is not impossible, but seriously not easy, you have to totally change the amount of effort you put into studying, and that could mean an impact on your social life.
You can try talking to your lecturers who have taught you to give you a more detailed option of what you can do.
