Rosie baked a total 490 Chocolate and banana muffins. After selling 4/5 of the chocolate muffins and 5/6 of the banana muffins, she was left with thrice as many chocolate muffins as banana muffins. How many chocolate muffins did Rosie sell?
Mr Wang bought a certain number of pencils for his pupils. he gave 84 pencils to class 5A and 2/5 of the remanider to class 5B. If he was left with 1/4 of the original number of pencils. How many pencils did he have at first?

Qns 1: After selling 4/5 (C) and 5/6 (B),
(C) - 3 units (1/5 C)
(B) - 1 unit (1/6 B)So originally total have (C) - 3 x 5 = 15 units (B) - 1 x 6 = 6 units.
Total = 21units (490 muffins)No. of units of (C) sold = 4 x 3 = 12 units
12 units = 12/21 x 490 muffins = 280 chocolate muffins (Answer)Is it correct?

If you explain in simple terms, you can read it like this.
Original Number of Pencils - 84 (to 5A) = 5 units remaining.
2 out of the 5 units left give to 5B. 3 units left.
3 units = 1/4 number of original number of pencils
Original Number of pencils = 3 x4 = 12 units.
12 - 5 = 7units (84 pencils - 5A)
Original Number = 12/7 x 84 pencils = 144 pencils.
