i was planing to took accounting course. i not sure which one will be a better school? how do you guy/ladies rate it? the person from mdis say that i can just go for diploma but i have 0 knowlege of accounting. :( but the poeple from psb say that i need to take certifcate 1st before going diploma if i go for psb. HELP :( thank alot
Why didn't you considered taking ACCA acounting qualification ? You can check with either MDIS or PSB whether they accepted ACCA diploma for their degree and if they do it might save cost and time. Also from my experience ACCA is better than some other "private" school cert or diploma cos they are more international recognized, that is if you only intended to stop studying until their accounting "diploma" instead of getting their degree.
ACCA diploma? I thought ACCA is high quality accounting cert..
If you wan accounting safest is go Singapore Accountancy Academy(SAA), after all they are the training partner of ICPAS.
ICPAS is like the regulatory body for professional accountant in singapore.
If u are really going into acct profession, dun bother with any diploma from pte schools.
Go straight to the source - ACCA. Juz to give u an idea, Acct & Finance students under the University of Bradford programme under MDIS can only receive less than 6 exemptions if they were to pursue ACCA qualifications.
ACCA has many levels of standards. Just start with the basic, Foundations in Accountancy, http://www.accaglobal.com/en/student/qualification-resources/foundation-accountancy.html , it gives you RECOGNISED qualification in the market. Once you think you can heck from there, try to attain higher qualifications from there.
Recently there are many foreign students enrolling in these courses so you get a varied taste in schooling environment.

ACCA is recognized by accounting firms. Do you want to work for accounting firms or do you want to work in the government sectors?
i nt sure. but best is easy to find job te
be it ACCA, dip, or cert or...etc..
if the job applicants are mainly NUS degree ..yr chances are near 0...the point is still the importance of first degree
of course ACCA can be the assistants...unless very experienced
if wan to compare...PSB better la...but do not mistaken it as having equal stature of NUS or NTU
anyway.....NUS = Not Useful & Stupid; NTU = Not Too Useful....lolx

It appears that you underestimated ACCA.
The Big 4 accounting firms almost exclusively hire those from local universities or ACCA.holder for the same position and similar pay scale. However, It is true that local uni still have priority over ACCA.
Sorry to those PSB degree holder, if you don't hold ACCA the chances of you getting employ by Big 4 is almost 0%(i have not seen any).
sorry about that...of course coupled with good experience, ACCA can do better
Hard truths about the employers market where there are many GICs around...priority are still inclined towards local U...even SMU or SIM cannot share the same limelight as that of NUS....
but hopefully things are changing...
Let me add something, if u intend to take ACCA while working full-time, you really need to have ALOT ALOT of self-discipline.
The passing rate for many papers are at 30%+/-.
thats why people continued with Masters...to gain advantage....paper after paper chase....
If you want to check which school offered ACCA, you can check with Council for Private Education for more info : http://www.cpe.gov.sg
I doubt that getting an degree would be in advantage. I am sure people who read news know that even an degree holder had ended up working in National Library. Unless there are "special" requirement, I doubted employer would considered fresh "degree" holder when they stated their required salary rather than those with working experience.
acca like very hard to check. i call n ask them about the price but in internet the school fee all stated as other country dollor. if i wan learn from basic i should go for acc 1st? or private sch than acca? sry i abiit confess. thank alot for you poeple helping me out

You pay foreign curreny(UK pounds) for your initial registration fees, annual subscription fees and exam fees.
When u engage with institute such as SAA, Kaplan or others, they are only responsible for preparing you for the ACCA exams. They are not setting your examination Therefore, u pay exam fees in pounds to ACCA not to SAA or Kaplan
Below are the fees for classes(this does not include amount to be paid to ACCA): http://www.kaplan.com.sg/kli/course/preparatory-course-for-acca-5/course-syllabus-fees-11468/
wow acca price is same as mdis :( but if i wan to get a job in gov i should get into mdis? if i want work for accounting firms i should get diploma by acca than change to mdis degree? am i right? or ?
.
If you search carefully based on the link I provided early, you will find that there are number of schools offered ACCA : http://www.cpe.gov.sg/cos/o.x?c=%2Fcpe%2Fpeis&func=courses&ptid=401&kw=acca&pg=1
As long as the accounting qualification are supported and regulated by the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Singapore (ICPAS), you should have no problem in getting an government job.
For your info, getting an Certified Public Accountant (CPA) qualification is even harder than ACCA, still you will have an advantage over ACCA student (since you might also need an degree to qualify). You think it is manageable and you can score very well, you might like to give it a try : http://corp.icpas.org.sg
many look towards CPA Australia
thank alot but the link you send need a account to see it but i cant find the register button to make an account
