The Singapore team beat 236 students from 59 countries to win first place at the 23rd International Biology Olympiad (IBO) held here, reported The Straits Times. The four Singaporean students won four Gold medals at the Olympiad that ended today.
This is both the first time the Republic has won first place, as well as four Gold medals.
The medalists are Nol Swaddiwudhipong, Zhang Hui Ting and Mao Haitong of Raffles Institution, and Lim Yuan Wei of Hwa Chong Institution. Swaddiwudhipong is also the top Gold medalist in the Olympiad.
The other team that also received four Gold medals came from the United States.
Some of the world's most promising secondary school students participated in the competition. The IBO aims to challenge and stimulate these students to expand their talents.
Haha! I was reading the news today and I remembered a forumer asked tips about Biomedical Olympaid. Though it's not the same compeitition, but it's enough to trigger my brain recalling a memory. Congratz to all four of them!
Best regards,
What the fuck kind of name is Swaddiwudhipong!?!!
Singapore team does not mean Singaporeans lah.
First day living in Sg?
Eh, you all dunno how to read ah?
"The four Singaporean students won four Gold medals at the Olympiad that ended today."
And also bear in mind, the judges are international judges (and whose reputation have too much at stake), which means the Singapore team achieved this on their own merit. Well done!
havent it dawned on you that if you cant win them, you might as well buy them.
if you want a singaporean to win a Nobel Laureate, just identify which aspiring scientists has the best chance of winning and then entice and invite him to work and live in singapore as a citizen. easy does it.
WELL DONE!
Good work
congrats to them !. As an ex Singapore Bio Olympiad participant, I am proud of them. There is sheer hardwork needed through the school selection, theory round, practical round, then the international stage !
