Basically I had
Phy - U
Chem - S
Maths - E
Econs - C
GP - S
Chinese - C
Anyway I can catch up on time? I'm struggling to even finish my own homework, how to get enough time to read up on previous topics? Any tips?
Also any good tuitions out there? Thanks in advance.
Hi,
Please check your mailbox regarding tuition. Thanks.
Cheers,
Wen Shih
If you've not already done so, go buy at least the most essential titles among my list of Recommended Books for H2 Chemistry :

what is S?
According to wikipedia
S: 35% to 44% (denotes standard is at AO level only), grade N in the British A Levels.

How much time you spend on studying everyday?
Not sure if this will help u in your physics.
I have just compiled a list of qualitative questions for A levels H2 physics. I will be selling this at a token fee to cover the photostating costs only soon.
So far only my students got the first few copies for revision. I'm in the process of getting an ISBN number for this, and will be up for sale immediately after.
You need not fear because many JCs set higher standards than Cambridge exams so that you / your parents will be shocked into studying / making you study. Oldest trick in the book.
Go by Cambridge standards and you'll be fine. PLENTY of dark horses who failed every JC exam pull up at the actual exams.
I would recommend you survey some actual papers just to see what the standards are.
which JC?
other than tuition, is there any better methods i should be studying?
for me i try my best to stay awake in lecture and copy everything down, after that read the lecture notes some day and do the tutorial. most of the time can complete less than 20% of the tutorial,
after teacher go through a bit can do the next 50% and the other 50% undone... stuck and than next chapter liao ...
any approach i should take to make life more efficient?
Self learning is not just looking through notes and doing tutorial and repeating the same every time. Obviously if you didn't score well, that would mean your methods are not working just as well.
It's not about completing the 20% or 50% that matters. It is about whether you have reflected on what you have learned after being taught. The time spent reflecting is a necessary and important aspect of learning and understanding. This applies with or without tuition.
But to be very blunt, if you really need help in your subjects, please seek help early. I have had students who seeked help only after they are retained in JC1 or after flunking A levels and not able to get into uni, which makes me think why they don't seek help earlier, and allow me sufficient time to save them a year of their life. Some only seeked help 1 or 2 months before Os or As, thinking I can give them a miracle pill to swallow to ace their exams.
I am a tutor, and you may contact me or Mr Wee via pm, or you may search for any effective tutors around your place, be it 1-1 to group.
How do I know if the 1-1 tutors are reliable? Although I'm using my parent's money I don't want to waste it..
I'm not sure where you stay, but for tutors, either you know one from word of mouth, or you take a stab in the dark.
1-1 does not work for everyone. It seriously depends on the student. At times, it may degenerate into helping the student do homework, which in my opinion is seriously not the best way to learn. After having taught for 10 years, I prefer group tuition, which allows me to reach out to more students with the same time, and create a more structured learning programme.
Not only that, 1-1 is much more expensive than group. Personally, I charge $100/hr for 1-1. But for group lessons, it's much less, saving you the money. You could potentially take more classes, and spend more time learning from experienced tutors than going for a 1-1 class.

Mr Wee is teaching at the same centre as me.
I noticed your JC1 physics scored U for mid years. While some of my students did not do as well as I wanted them to, none failed as bad. I have completed the whole of mechanics as well as thermal physics and waves. I am now pausing to do revision on oscillations, gravitation, thermal because most of my students are comfortable with the other topics. Superposition will likely be the next topic.
In addition, the booklet that you see in the picture above is a compilation of qualitative based questions only. I will be giving out a class test based on questions in the booklet soon.
For your case, I'm unsure how far you lag behind my current students at the moment. But if I can have a new class of students, it would be good. I like to teach and bring failing students to score As or Bs by A levels, and have done that for a few years.
I think should try to get minimum E for every subject.
Getting promoted to J2 is one thing but getting promoted with a good foundation is important.
I see that your econs is significantly better.
Is that a hint of something?
min C to survive.
at least As still can manage to squeeze out B
