I wanted to know how likely will i get good grades for both my Diploma and Advanced modules. I am from Singapore Polytechnic.
Higher Mathematics
Provides students with essential mathematical knowledge for further studies in universities. In particular, it aims to prepare students for the NUS Proficiency Test (MA 1301). It is also designed to partly bridge the gap between the calculus at the polytechnic diploma level and the calculus at the first year university level. Topics include induction, functions, calculus, sequences & series, analytic geometry and vector algebra.
The content for this mathematics is roughly like engineering mathematics. It prepares me for NUS maths proficiency test. My concern is that it does affect GPA as i am taking 7 Modules if i intend to participate in this module. I am from IT industry.
My O level results for E Maths is B4.
Before i take this module, I need to go through bridging mathematics program.Which means i would take Bridging mathematics in 1 semester and Further mathematics in another semester. The 2 modules take almost 1 year to complete.
However, i won't be able to make it to NUS as i still have to apply for discretionary admission. Only those with Higher mathematics 1,2,3 will receive exemption.
This advanced module won't drop my GPA if i dun do well, it will increase my GPA if i do well. Bridging mathematic contains Trigo, calculus and algebra.
Anyone can help me ? I know that H2 Mathematics is difficult. I am afraid i might not do well and meet the GPA for NUS. I know that currently NUS requires 3.74 cGPA. If i take this further mathematics, my cGPA will definitely drop. I meet the points for Computing. However, i don't have A maths for NUS computing course.
I have 1 more day to decide. Application period ends at 12 Oct 2012. I would like to take business course in Uni instead of Computing.
