Hello forums ,
I have been googling regarding the title thread yet i have not found any concrete answer.
As of know , my understanding of the sequence would be :
Bachelors Degree - Honours Degree - Masters Degree - PHD
Would that be the right sequence ? that the most basic 'achievement' in uni would be bachelors degree? Or is there a 'simple' degree before proceeding to bachelors degree ?
Regards
RuiQi
Thanks for the reply but that did not answer my question.
I searched through the link but it didnt clarify on the stages of university education. It did not show the breakdown of - university - education levels which was my question.
now no need go in order liao
can skip
You can get a bachelor's degree, then move on to masters. And in some cases, your scores are so solid, the uni might just offer you a PhD right after your bachelor's. I've seen it before, but the guy's total grades were like 3.99/4.

In Singapore education system, the bachelor degree is the 'basic' tertiary degree. Typically it is a three-year programme, though some may stretch to four years or more (e.g. engineering, architecture, etc). If your grades are good, the university may offer you to do your honours for one extra year. Some degree programmes are direct honours, i.e. you are able to do honours without the need to wait till your final year to know if you are selected.
After bachelor degree, you can opt for post-graduate studies, which are your masters and doctorate level programmes. Some programmes allow you to go matriculate directly into a PhD programme, after graduating with a bachelor. But you are not saving much time, as PhD programmes are typically five years or more in duration. Masters programmes are generally between 1-3 years.
Post-graduate programmes, in particular masters, have two tracks: coursework or research.
Coursework programmes are similar to your bachelor degree programme where you take subjects/modules and rack up credits to graduate. Research programmes are well, research-based where you perform field research and write up papers on topics relevant to your discipline, under the mentorship of a (associate) professor. I believe most, if not all, PhD programmes are research-based. Please correct me if I'm wrong on this point.
Hope this helps.
Hello Ditz and Ail ,
Thank you for the replies :) i fully understand now. Funny how i didnt understand the system after googling so much and after reading the 2 posts , i get it all now. I was offered the 4 year programme with direct honors as stated by Ail's post.
Got me confused since i thought everyone had to get their degree 1st before proceeding. Thanks again for the replies :) Peace out :)

but oni first class and second upper got some weight.
if second lower or third, it is jus as good as a plain bachelor.
And if you wanna do naughty things, and put them on your blog. Try not to let your uni know.

You're welcome :) Best wishes for your programme!
the greatest sequence has been....
High School --- Bachelor Drop Out (By Choice)! --- Entrepreneurship --- Honorary Doctorate
e.g. Bill Gates, Michael Dell, Mark Zuckerberg...etc...
do not emulate unless u dare take the risk of a lifetime
