  hello guys. I have a very important question to ask. I am in Secondary 3 going to Secondary 4 next year. My dream is to be a pilot. How do i get there? i am taking 6 subjects English E Maths Design and technology Malay Humanities (geog and ss) Science ( phy and bio ) I am planning to take aerospace engineering in poly. From there i can take private pilot lesson right? Pls tell me where i should go, what should i do, and how to get there to achieve it! If there are any pilots out there, id love to hear ur stories on how u became a pilot. I am not so good in maths but i have an intrest in aircrafts. my stronger subjects are english and dnt. Thank You

  Hmm I am not too sure. It's not easy to be a pilot. It's REALLY REALLY just an ambition for most people. I think if you take aerospace engineering, most people (especially if you are only coming out to work with a diploma) will end up being aircraft engineers. Then again, aircraft engineers still earn a good sum of money. Maybe you should look at other ways of reaching your goal of being a pilot? Having a diploma in aerospace engineering may not necessarily mean you can become a pilot if you only have a diploma. There are many with a degree/masters in aerospace engineering. Same goes as if you have a degree in psychology doesn't make you a psychologist.

  Hi!

  It is very tough to be a pilot. My cousin's son did not make it as a pilot but drives helicopter and he ferried PM Lee once!

  Usually, a pilot trainee has to be the best in OCS - army unit or go into airforce during NS and be the best cadet. he has to be physically fit and very good in studies.

  Usually, a student needs to take A Maths and pure physics and pure chem and get almost all A1s to qualify as a pilot.

  But performance at NS is very important.

  You may need a backup career - eg. aerospace engineer. It is also a very cool job as the aerospace hub will be fully finished in 2018. Many jobs will be available. Then you could get trained in some unis or institutes overseas after poly.(eg. Rolls Royce institute).

  You could also take a junior flying club pilot licence in Sg or Johore. Your eyesight should be close to perfect.

  Pls ask the counselors at poly for more accuate info.

  thank you so much for the post. I will try my best to do whatever i can to be a pilot! even if i cant make it, ill try to be an engineer. thank you! i am not that fit and my maths sucks. my physics is ok. Thanks anyways!
