Hi guys. I am a J2 student taking 4H2, physics, chemistry, Maths and economics. My result hasn't been the best, and I am looking to drop 1 of my subjects to H1. I am thinking of dropping chemistry as it is really tough for me.. However, I heard rumours that H1 chemistry is equally hard just lesser chapters, but others tell me it is much easier.. I am really confused... I hope someone would give me advice.. Preferably someone who also been in the same situation as me..:) thanks a lot for your help!!!:)
I understand where you are coming from.. But according to my research, only medicine, pharmacy, dentistry, environmental studies, environmental engineering and chemical engineering require H2 as pre requisite.(correct me if I am wrong) so since chemistry is one of the hardest subject, why take it to pull my rank points down? I wonder if H1 chem is really easier than h2 chem. if so, how much easier?(
so where u wanna go in uni?
if it is not easier, y isit H1?
Hopefully some business course. I am not too sure too...:/ sighs.
From what I heard and researched, the difference between H1 and H2 is only the number of topics, not difficulty. Yet I have heard others stating that H1 is easier... So I really do not know who to believe.. I am hoping for someone who have experience in both h1 and h2 chemistry tell me what to do
#1 - if you have good tuition, H2 Chemistry won't be a problem to score a distinction, or at least a B grade.
#2 - The biggest plus point of taking H1 Chem over H2 Chem, is no SPA / Pract exam, and no Planning Qn.
So am I right to assume that difficulty wise, H1 and H2 chemistry is the same? Just that H1 chemistry has lesser topics, and has no spa and planning qn? Is this the only difference between the 2?
If you are sure you want to do business, and you really want to lessen the work load to focus your attention on your goal.
Then drop it.
Contrary to what most people think, biting more than you can chew won't get you far.
And that is also not the same as being lazy.
But what in business do you want to do? There's so many types. And business, in my opinion, not only does not teach you much on what I consider important (ie hard knowledge), but is also hugely competitive and over-rated.
Your choice ultimately.

Yes, officially, the difficulty of the questions are the same, just that H1 Chem has less topics. But the fact that as H1, you skip many of the more difficult topics, plus SPA and Planning, hence in a sense H1 does become easier than H2 (even though officially and for the same common topics to both syllabuses, the difficulty is supposed to be the same).
Probably you should post your promos results for us to have a better judgment? :)
