What is the difference between crossing over and chiasma?? When do they happen?
Many years ago, I used to teach H2 Biology as well, but have since chosen to specialize exclusively in teaching H2 Chemistry. Chemistry is where students need my help more.
You might not get any further responses here in your thread, as there are not many H2 Bio students around here. See my Private Message (that I sent you) for suggestions.
I feel that you need to purchase the prelim papers of various JCs. They will give you a clearer picture of the standards expected. For simpler problems, you may source for tutorials from other JCs.
Websites do not usually conform to our unique Cambridge-Singapore Bio syllabus.
From my H2 syllabus, those terms used in the quiz are not part of the syllabus as I have never encountered them ever ni my H2 bio life (graduated in 2012)
What is the difference between crossing over and chiasma?? When do they happen?
Crossing over is the process while chiasma is the point which crossing over occur. Crossing over and formation of chiasmata happen during prophase of meiosis I. It is for exchange of genetic information between non sister chromatids of homologous chromosomes, leading to genetic variation.
