  the graduate student is indian,  name is xxx s/o ganesan

  and the Emcee read as xxx s/o ganinna     (very loudly and very clearly,  to me sounds like purposely?)

  the whole auditorium burst out laughing

  the guy very jialat

  And I tot the worst thing that can happened is wrong gender~ I got a male fren when taking an award, the emcee read his name as "Ms xxx xxx xxxx"
