  - Potitaruman (6th century BC). Third son of a south indian brahman king, he travelled further to preach Mahayana Buddhism in China, and became famous by meditating 9 years facing the wall, and has been claimed to be the originator of the Eighteen Arhat Hands (�八罗汉手), Yijin Jing (易筋經) and the lost Xi Sui Jing - after seeing the deplorable physical health of the Shaolin monks. He became the First Patriach of Ch'an and Zen Buddhism. He is better known as Bodhidharma, or 达摩.
