The fools enjoy their careless pleasure,
But their way is dark and leads to danger.
I have no fear for the peril of my own person,
But only lest the chariot of my lord should be dashed.
- Mi Ping, 芈平 (339 – 278 BC). Statesman and China’s greatest patriotic poet, who invented and wrote poems in Chu Ci (楚辞
) out of his love and anguish for his country and its future after several failed attempts to persuade the Emperor - which finally culminated in his exile and drove to death by corrupted and envious ministers. Since then, he is being celebrated annually on the fifth day of the fifth month of the Chinese calendar with meat dumplings and dragon boat in search of his body in the forgotten ocean of greatness and unflinching loyalty. He is better known as 屈原.

An enlightened ruler does not worry about people not knowing him; he worries about not knowing people.
Nothing is harder to see into than people's nature. The sage looks at subtle phenomena and listens to small voices. This harmonizes the outside with the inside and the inside with the outside.
Those who are skilled in combat do not become angered, those who are skilled at winning do not become afraid. Thus the wise win before they fight, while the ignorant fight to win.
- Wolong (181 - 234). Orphaned at a very young age in a time of great political and warring turmoil, he worked as a farmer by day and self study by night. Because of his great knowledge, innovative mechanical ingenuity, and legendary predictions of political affairs, he became well known and was visited three times before he agreed to advise and fight against enemies. He overworked to death to serve his master with utmost loyalty; and even at his death, his enemies would not dare tread on his State for fear of falling into his great scheming tactics.
