Jade bangle?
Mama's bird day's coming really soon.. Anyone got goldsmiths or whatever shops to recommend? And also what's the damage?
(One more thing, do they come in standard sizes? Or I gotta roughly gauge how big my mom's hand is?)
Thanks
NO! They don't come in standard sizes.
You better bring her to the shop to buy one.

Failed.
Lousy advice.
I want to give her the surprise element.
Oh yes dear, I'm probably buying her dinner too.. =D

Then next time I try to see how big her hand is loh.
It's not lousy advice - I have three bangles, all purchased without my presence, and they all don't fit. They're all too small, my dad has underestimated his daughter's hand... it's actually fatter than he thinks it is...
wrist size doesn't make it either.. dependent on how big her hand is too..
and price.. again dependent.. jade can be cheap as heck or cost more than its weight in gold depending on the quality..

Recommend some shops, uncle bear?
Would you give a rough estimate price wise too?

Ok ok. I don't know much about jade bangles so can't help. =\ Get her wrist measurements through her watch or something and bring it to the jeweller's to ask for suggestions?

It's not just the wrist, it's her hand too.. the size of her palm.. remember it's a bangle?

I'll use the gf method

She doesn't... She had one many years ago... She liked it a lot.. but broke it when she hit me =( I was a bad egg =(
Now I wanna replace it =D

Noopi.. do you happen to know how to tell a piece of good jade from a lousier quality ones?
How come so cheap???
Nice kid.
And yah, jade is very subjective. Some can be cheap, some can be terribly expensive for a fake stone.
Do you live near market centrals? Do walk thru during the mornings, you might find some really old ladies setting up a floor stall and selling jade stuffs they purchased long time ago in China.
Or Taka I see from someone's attachment is a good choice.
The most places to find jades is either Chinatown or Fu Lu Shou Building area (Bugis). But cannot garantee they are real or cheap.
I had one, broke it when I landed my wrist heavily on something. The bangle broke several hours later, and landed on a shop wooden floor loudly. The sound shocked a lot of people around me. And I was advised that it probably broked because it shielded me from some disaster.
