We refer to the letter "Can't recall wife's birthday, so no help
from telco" by Mr Jimmy Ng Kim Kok (March 11). We express our apologies
to Mr Ng, on the distress he had encountered over the possible roaming
charges that may be incurred.
After his report on the loss
of his wife's mobile phone, we suspended the line within 10 minutes of
his call, and after further review and verification.

In other words, all his rants on TODAY newspaper was for nothing.
If he had just calmed himself down and called M1 again, they would have simply told him that the line had already been suspended.
Heck, I get the feeling that the Customer Service Operator actually wanted to tell him 'Okay sir, never mind about your wife's birthday, I'll talk to my manager, and ask him if we can just suspend the line anyway', but could not do so because he had already hung up in anger.
If anything, he will now face the wrath of his wife for forgetting her birthday and for having the smart aleck idea of announcing that to the entire nation.
